NewsPlusNotes August 2015 Poll Results

Each August our monthly poll asks our readers which of the new-for-that-year coasters turned out to be their favorite, since a lot of the season is already over at that point.  Most years the poll is a pretty close run between a few favorites - but not this year.

This year, one ride, and that's Fury 325 at Carowinds, absolutely blew away the competition, firmly cementing itself as our readers' favorite new ride of 2015.  The B&M designed giga coaster collected nearly 53% of all the votes, beating the second place finisher by a huge margin.  Fury 325's massive height, unrelenting speed and varied air-time has placed the ride near the top of many "favorite coaster" lists.  After taking a ride earlier this Summer, I can certainly see why.

Here's the full results:

In second place, with 12% of the total vote is Wicked Cyclone at Six Flags New England.  The Rocky Mountain conversion of the former Cyclone hooked in many riders with it's extreme features and inversions.  Another Rocky Mountain creation came in third, and with 9% that's Twisted Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain.  Following not too far behind is our 4th place ride, Thunderbird at Holiday World.

This month's poll is a throwback vote, all the way back twenty years ago to 1995.  There were some interesting coasters opening that year, and equally of note is how many of them didn't survive two decades!  Give it a read and then vote over on the left.
